We no longer operate from a cellar door. In Sicily his father owned lots of land and was involved in doing beneficiary labor for the appropriate of his community, so much so, that in 1959 he was awarded the Title of lavaliere (Knighthood) from the Italian Government. In Italy the family made wine each year for their own consumption, and this of course was done in the old method of crushing the grapes with feet. In his 20s, this passion became more prominent and so he began to look for land here in Adelaide in order to realism his dream of growing and making his own wine. In the premature 60s, grapes were not so readily available in Adelaide because the large companies that grew grapes did not sell to private people. Of course that did not assist the Italian Immigrants who were worn to making their own wine each year for their own consumption. This provided grapes for the immediate families and lots of other Italian families in the North East of Adelaide. Vince began to make wines and won a number of medals in amateur shows, before turning professional. He also helped lots of Italians make good wines by teaching them better methods, as some of them were still making wines the used way. When the lease was up at Golden Grove, Vince and his wife Tina bought 7 acres of land in Gumeracha in the Adelaide Hills and Vince recreated his own small Sicily, by planting vines and a variety of fruit and nut trees. In 1988 Vince was involved in establishing Gumeracha Vineyard, planting approximately 160 acres of white and red varieties with two other family partners. This was one of the beginning and largest privately owned vineyards in the Adelaide Hills where the area is apropos in producing premium white and red chilly climate grape varieties. In 1998 Vince and his brotherinlaw established a new Vineyard in One Tree Hill. The soil is clay over limestone mixed with granite rock and with an altitude of approximately 190 degrees overhead sea slick the climatic influence in the vineyard is the sea breeze from Gulf St Vincent, thus producing excellent wines. He plants and prunes the vines and makes the wine. He has a potent bond with the land and he has a saying : It takes Four Seasons to make a glass of wine. His philosophy is to produce wines at affordable prices so it can be enjoyed by everyone at all times.
